Q: What is an FAQ?

A: FAQ (or Frequently Asked Questions) are a detailed list of questions that a visitor or client would ask you if you were talking with them in person in your office, store or on site at their location. These questions are prepared for your visitor to get an answer from you when you’re not available, like in the middle of the night when they’re browsing the internet to find a replacement company for the company that just messed up or if they have a new need that has come up and they wanted to look into the options. Q: What if I’m having a hard time coming up with some FAQ’s?

A: The best place to get ideas for your FAQ page is going to be the internet. Go to Google and search for a company that offers the same products or services you offer but in a different state than your company. For instance, if you have a Plumbing company in Michigan, search for Plumbing companies in California. Then look for websites with FAQ pages and make a list of good questions they have that you like (pay no attention to the answers they have on their site, that’s irrelevant). Then reword the question the way your client would ask it. In some cases you will have the same question because it’s just that simple. Then answer the question in your own words. Make sure you’re very descriptive and thorough in your answer. Remember, this is proving to them that you know your business and they’ve found the right company for their needs.

Q: Should I have links to other pages in my FAQ page?

A: Absolutely! This will not only take them to the right place within your website, but it makes it easier to navigate through your site. To top that off, Google loves links to helpful pages, it makes their search results more effective and they love to be effective.

A: Try to put yourself in the shoes of a visitor/possible client and think like they would think. Not like you (as an experienced professional) would think about your services or products. You should always think about a conversation with a client/customer and try to remember some of the questions they ask. No matter how simple or weird they are, if it’s a common question, put it in your FAQ’s. Listening to the masses is always the best idea when preparing to sell to the masses.

A: Well, I wouldn’t go less than 5 but the best FAQ page has the most questions and the most detailed answers. You really need to represent your knowledge in this page by telling the visitor you know the most about the product or service (More than the competition) In fact, you really should have your FAQ page more in depth and better organized than your competition’s because people want to go with the most experienced and knowledgeable company available to do their work, make their product, or provide the service they need done.
